‘Will & Harper’ Trailer: Will Ferrell Reunites with Trans ‘SNL’ Writer Harper Steele for Cross Country Road Trip

Will Ferrell and Harper Steele have worked together before, but their upcoming, non-scripted road trip series, ‘Will & Harper,’ is understandably generating a lot of interest.

Will Ferrell’s latest project finds him teaming up with former Saturday Night Live writer, Harper Steele, for an eight-episode, non-scripted road trip series due out on Apple TV+ on March 17th. In ‘Will & Harper,’ the frequent collaborators travel the country, talking to everyday Americans about everyday American things.

Steele started working with the show in 2015, and according to Ferrell, played a “pivotal” role in its writing. “Harper was a natural fit for this show given her brilliant and hilarious writing, and her unique perspective,” said Ferrell.

Steele, who is transgender and outspoken about her experiences, told The Hollywood Reporter that she was initially “really nervous” about working with Ferrell, but that he quickly put her at ease. “Will is very respectful, a great listener and he's easy to get along with - a real class act,” said Steele.

The series will focus on the pair's conversations with people from all walks of life, and Steele says she hopes it will help to break down stereotypes and build bridges between people.

“I think it's important to show that we're all more alike than we are different,” she says. “We all have the same basic needs and desires - to be loved, to be accepted, to be happy.”

In the trailer, Ferrell and Steele discuss everything from politics to religion to sex. They also talk about their own personal experiences, and how they've come to embrace their differences.

“I think people are going to be really surprised by this show,” says Steele. “It's not what you expect. It's funny, it's heartwarming, and it's thought-provoking.”

"Will & Harper" is produced by Ferrell's company, Gary Sanchez Productions, and Steele's company, Major Mom. The series will premiere on Apple TV+ on March 17th.
